This post is just a spot of housekeeping to let you know what’s coming up on Linefeed in the New Year… Decadism continues. After posting a top 100 tracks for the last ten years [linefeed/3205], there’s a top films list in the compiling, a fave magazines video podcast thingy and a few more reviews of the decade to come (as soon as I work out what else is going to be reviewed). ☉ LineRead #2 is just about ready. There’s a only a couple of pages of copy to be written and then — bish bash bosh — it’ll be up on MagCloud and available to order. LineRead #3 is already taking form (a decadism special mayhaps) so #2 won’t be far off now. ☉ More merch for the New Year? Possibly. If your humble author can organise a sewing bee, I’m hoping to have some spanky new, limited edition library bags available to purchase featuring exclusive fabric designs. Why library bags? Isn’t that a bit childish? No. Not at all. It’s for carrying your mags in. Natch. ☉ Oh, and Happy New Year Decade! Here’s to New!

Coming up on the blog we have Mr Gregor of Gym Class Magazine fame [gymclassmagazine.com] helping us out with his report from the recent Publish & Be Damned Fair in London’s East End [publishandbedamned.org], as well as more journeys into the cult-ish and the occult in prep for All Hallow’s Eve plus more information about the project that’s been occupying most of my brainspace at the moment, going by the slightly clumsy title of ‘Disconnect then Fracture’ (I made meself a tshirt to aid self-motivavtion – what do you reckon?)…

There’s news too regarding the next edition of LineRead. I’ve been researching cults and cultish iconography in preparation. It’s going to be heaps different to the first issue but will hopefully make a nice companion piece. I’ll be uploading some sneak previews here real soon. I’ve been busy elsewhere too. Have no fear though cause Linefeed’s not dead, it’s just taking a breather. There’s a new Press Publish [presspublish.info] project in the pipeline going by the title, ‘Disconnect then Fracture’, which you’ll be hearing more about via Linefeed real soon. Linefeed’s monthly reading list continues [vimeo.com/lineout] with September’s edition uploading within the next couple of weeks and well as more videos and more products announcements… sorry, did I say more product announcements? Have I mentioned Linemart yet? This is Linefeed’s official spot for stuff what you can buy [linefeed.presspublish.info/linemart]. Some of it is produced by our own fair hands. There’s also recommended produce from high quality vendors such as It’s Nice That [itsnicethat.com], Gym Class magazine [gymclassmagazine.com] and Grafik [grafikmagazine.co.uk] with more being added spasmodically to the page… Let me see… What else? If you’re reading linefeed through a feed reader you have thought there’s been a bit of tumbleweed floating about the blog section of the site. What you may not have noticed is the new landing page where you can keep track of regularly updated Google Reader Shared Items [reader.google.com], Delicious bookmarks [delicious.com], Twitter Tweets [twitter.com], recent Vimeo Videos [vimeo.com], Confab Podcasts [confab.tv] and recommended links. Big news for Linefeed is the advent of LineMart [linefeed.presspublish.info/linemart] — a place for stuff what you can buy. There’s a selection of Print on Demand publications and spanky new mugs up there now. New stock will be added on a semi-regular basis. Look for notices via Linefeed. Linefeed also has a new contributor which I’m totally excited about. More soon. Hopefully next year we’ll be able to get a nice new and much neater site address too. Roll on new top level domain names.

New Year, New Format, New Name, New Everyfink. I set myself only a few days to completely remodel Boicozine into something more modular, less Boico and I think it’s just about there. I have no idea how this looks in anything other than Safari so consider today’s refresh as a sort of ‘beta test sneak preview’. I’ll be bashing the site into shape over the next few months so if you have any feedback please let me know by leaving a comment below… oh, yeah… that’s something I’ll have to fix real quick too. Anyhoo, this should give you an idea of where the site is going. Welcome to the Linefeed.

There’s little doubt that the late 1950s and early 1960 was boom time for public art. No gleaming ’shop modern’ office building or department store or apartment complex was complete without some sort of sculpture or water feature or chunky mural at street level to give warmth to their austere angles. If you look at modern development today there is sparse attention given to anything as frivolous as decoration apart from a few deliberately unimaginative slabs of commissioned work stashed away in the foyer.

So it is that The Twentieth Century Society has launched a campaign to save some of the dwindling number of public murals from that era [c20society.org.uk/murals], like the series pictured here in Holborn by Dorothy Annan which is due for demolition soon.
