Return of the Plastic People
Just as you’ve decided it was time to pack away those space-encroaching, trendy plastic figures — a constant reminder of your infantile mind and unavoidable addiction to shiny, coloured things — comes a whole hoard of new plastic figures from the mental minds of James Jarvis [homepage.mac.com/james.jarvis] and eBoy [eboy.com]. Having an interest in all things plastic and ‘adult toy’ like you probably already know about Amos Toys [amostoys.com], lordy knows we’ve mentioned them here before [see boicozine/961], but have you heard about YOD? Yes? No? Good. They look ace and there’s loads of colours. James and Russel’s Amos blog is a pretty neat way to keep track of the YOD’s progress too [amostoys.blogspot.com]. You know they’ll be instantly collectable. Nuff said.
Almost as exciting (possibly more so) is the news that eBoy are bridging the gap between typography and plastic figures with the help of Kid Robot [kidrobot.com/peecol] and their FF Peecol picture typeface [fontfont.com]. You can get a good look at them before they are released next month over at the Peecol Flickr Pool [flickr.com/groups/peecol] or just look underneath this here blog post for a preview.
